The Law of the Seed

Andrew Matthews is one of my favorite writer. The first book he ever wrote was a children’s book. He had heard that getting a book published can be tough, so he got the addresses of 60 children’s publishers, made 60 copies of his manuscript and sent them all over the world.

He had felt very smart then. He thought that the worst scenario he would get is 50 rejections and then he could choose from the rest.

And guess how many rejections he got? 61!!!!! One publisher wrote to him twice!

So he wrote another book and sent them out to publishers. Eventually someone said, “Yes!”

If we really want to make something happen, we usually need to try more than once. It is a principle of nature.

Let’s say an apple tree bears 500 apples, each with 10 seeds. We might say, “That’s a lot of seeds! Why would you need so many seeds to grow just a few more trees?”

Bec most seeds nvr grow.

In our life it might mean:
We’ll fail a trial test more than once to get into a good boat (Lynz you understand right teehee)
We’ll need to attend 20 interviews to get 1 job.
We’ll sing a song for over 10 times before we rmb the lyrics.
We’ll talk to 50 people to sell one car, house, policy, or idea.

And we might need to meet a 100 acquaintances to find 1 special friend.

When we understand the “Law of  the Seed”, we stop feeling like victims and do not get so disappointed.

The laws of nature are not things to take personally. We just need to understand them — and work with them.

In a nutshell, successful people fail more often bec they plant more seeds.
